Turned Objects of Beauty and Usefulness Handcrafted from Locally Harvested Wood in Shepherdstown, West Virginia
About the Company
Two Rivers Turnings is the company name under which I (Neil Super) make things on the wood lathe and teach others to do the same. My work, which can be found at selected craft galleries (see below), the Shenandoah Planing Mill in Charles Town, and twice yearly during the Over The Mountain Studio Tour, includes:
bowls and vessels, cremation urns, Ikebana vases, ink pens, and a variety of useful items for kitchen and table, as well as architectural and furniture components.

About the Website
I do MOST business either in person (at shows), or through retail outlets, BUT I WILL SHIP if feasible, so just email or call if something strikes your fancy. The popular "Unique Gifts" page highlights useful objects that make great gifts. Find Representative bowl work on the "Historic Places" pages, where pieces are grouped by geographic provenance of the wood used. Other bowl and vessel work - most long since sold or given away- can be viewed at the "Artsty Stuff" page (which also details my exhibition history). Info on how to take my class is at the "Teaching" page, and my production turning and old lathe restoration is described under "Architectural & Furniture" and "Vintage Lathes".
About Me
Former careers neither stuck nor predicted my current trade, which began several years ago when I purchased a wood lathe, taught myself to use it (don't do it! - see "Teaching" page), and quickly succumbed to what experienced turners will recognize as "the sickness." I am now a member of the American Association of Woodturners and various arts organizations, teach woodturning, and continue to work and learn in my home shop in Shepherdstown and my newer digs, in Charles Town.

A Cremation Urn For A Friend...
A friend commissioned a cremation urn for the ashes of her architect/artist husband. She essentially gave me carte blanche on the design - a real honor. The chunk of Black Walnut from which I turned it was a solid(!) porch column rescued from an historic house just outside of Shepherdstown. I like to think he'd appreciate the detail left in for his final resting spot. The lid is quartersawn White Oak. The knob, of Indian Rosewood that dates back to before I swore off acquiring exotic wood species, contains an embedded medallion that was special to him in life.
