15 years or so into my woodturning journey and finally redoing my website I'm taking this opportunity to start recording some of my thoughts on all this here in this space. Being naturally wordy I figure a blog might help keep the business side of my website a tad bit pithier, and therefore more appealing to the casual browser, while anyone who is interested in a deeper dive (anyone, anyone?) can stop in here now and then. My little enterprise has changed somewhat over the past few years, the biggest change being the unplanned morphing into a provider of production (and bespoke) architectural and furniture components, complete with a new location (the Shenandoah Planing Mill) and new tools (restored old lathes). I still make unique gifts with wood harvested from locations of historic, cultural, or personal significance, continue to be a member of the Over The Mountain Studio Tour, teach woodturning both at Woodcraft and here at the Mill, and run a sawmill out back part time: I've just added a new line of work (and a new shop) to the mix. As I do all of this work my plan is to share thoughts on topics I find interesting; hopefully, others like yourself might likewise be curious about what's going on.
Cheers, Neil
Looking forward to it.
Congratulations to my favorite teacher and the best stop on the Studio Tour.
